Den norske Revisorforening now tells candidates for this autumn's practical auditor examinations when to expect confirmation that they may sit the exam. Once the examination fee is paid and the association has concluded that the education and practice criteria are met, each candidate receives a separate confirmation of eligibility approximately one week before the examination dayRevisorforeningen. The new timing applies identically to both examinations
Revisorforeningen: the practical exam for revisor on 29 October 2026 and the practical exam for bærekraftsrevisor on 5 November 2026. Previously both pages stated only that a confirmation would arrive, without any indication of when

The confirmation is the last green light before the exam itself. It follows a chain of earlier steps: registration with Vipps identification, documentation of the mastergrad i regnskap og revisjon (MRR) with degree date, employer confirmation of at least 24 months and 3200 hours of practical training, and payment of the kr 2 350 examination fee invoiced by DnR Kompetanse AS within the stated deadline. Only documented hours count toward the volume requirement, although the 24-month duration is deemed reached when it is met on the examination date. No separate grade documentation is needed, since the character requirement of C or better is not a condition for sitting the exam, only for later Finanstilsynet approval as statsautorisert revisor.
Candidates for the bærekraftsrevisor exam face the same baseline plus an additional sustainability practice requirement: at least 8 months or 1067 hours of practical training in attestasjon av bærekraftsrapportering or andre bærekraftsrelaterte tjenester, which may count within the general 24-month and 3200-hour requirement. The title bærekraftsrevisor may only be used by a statsautorisert revisor with supplementary Finanstilsynet approval, and the practical exam for bærekraftsrevisor is aimed principally at those who will not hold first-time approval as statsautorisert revisor until 2026 or later; others may use the overgangsordning of 40 hours of continuing education.
Both examinations are home exams held from 09:00 to 14:00 on their respective days, with the paper published at 09:00 and the answer submitted as a single Word or PDF document by 14:00 after Vipps identification. About a week before the exam candidates also receive a separate email with a link to the page where the paper will appear. Final grading is Bestått or Ikke bestått, with results for the revisor exam no later than 20 November and for the bærekraftsrevisor exam no later than 27 November. Anyone graded Ikke bestått may appeal within two weeks of receiving the result.
Legal basis: the practical examination requirements follow revisorloven § 3-3 and § 3-3a, implemented by forskrift om revisjon og revisorer § 1-4 and the examination board's eksamensinstruks.
If you are sitting the practical exam on 29 October or 5 November, make sure the fee is paid and your education and practice documentation is in order, then watch for the eligibility confirmation about a week before the exam and contact Revisorforeningen if it does not arrive.
