Sole traders in forestry who defer tax through skogskonto and skogsskadekonto face two clarifications in Skatteverket's account guidance. Interest credited from 1 April 2026 is no longer subject to the 15 per cent definitive withholding taxSkatteverket; the bank credits the full interest to the account and it is taxed as ordinary business income when the holder withdraws money or closes the account
Skatteverket. Interest credited before 1 April 2026 keeps its old treatment: the bank withheld 15 per cent as a final tax

The mechanics around that interest are unchanged. Interest the bank credits is reported as interest income in box R4 of the NE appendix, then adjusted out in box R14 (booked income not to be taken up) so it is not taxed until withdrawal; on withdrawal or closure the full amount including interest is declared in box R27. The same three-step treatment applies to skogsskadekonto, whose withdrawals are likewise declared in box R27 of the NE appendix.
The second clarification concerns the forest-damage account. A sole trader claiming deferral for forced felling after storm, fire, flooding, drought, insect attack or a similar event must enclose the Utredning – Skogsskada form (SKV 2464) with the income tax return, and that form must be personally signed by the filerSkatteverket. The qualifying conditions are unchanged: more than one-third of the forestry holding must be felled early because of the damage

Deposits to either account must be made no later than the income tax return filing dateSkatteverket (extended with filing deferral)
