Workers facing high fuel costs get a second round of support. Décret n° 2026-959 du 15 octobre 2026 creates a new €100 indemnité carburantLegifrance for households that use a vehicle for professional purposes
Legifrance, and separately grants an automatic €100 payment to people who already received the indemnity created by décret n° 2026-333 du 30 avril 2026
Legifrance.
The new indemnity targets earners, not every driver.Legifrance Applicants must be established in metropolitan France, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, Guyane, Martinique or Réunion and be domiciled in France for tax purposes within the meaning of article 4 B, 1, a of the code général des impôts for 2024. They must be at least sixteen years old on 31 December 2024 and have declared 2024 activity income in one of four headings: wages, salaries and assimilated income excluding unemployment and early retirement; bénéfices industriels et commerciaux as micro-entrepreneurs or professionals; bénéfices non commerciaux as micro-entrepreneurs or professionals; or bénéfices agricoles.
Two income and use tests then apply. The applicant's tax household must show a revenu fiscal de référence per part for 2024 of no more than €22,770Legifrance. The claim is made for one two-, three- or four-wheel vehicle with a thermal or non-rechargeable hybrid engine
Legifrance, used for professional purposes including home-to-work travel
Legifrance: the vehicle must be regularly insured at the date of the claim, and heavy motor quadricycles, agricultural vehicles, heavy goods vehicles and company or service vehicles are excluded, as are vehicles treated as damaged within the meaning of articles L. 327-1 to L. 327-6 of the code de la route. The applicant must drive more than 15 kilometres per home-to-work trip or more than 8,000 kilometres a year in professional activity, home-to-work travel included.
Legifrance One applicant receives only one indemnity, one vehicle cannot generate several indemnities, and taxpayers liable for impôt sur la fortune immobilière for 2024 are ineligible.
The amount is fixed at €100Legifrance. The claim is filed electronically, from the date set by joint arrêté of the economy minister and the public accounts minister, on a dedicated form in the applicant's espace finances publiques on impots.gouv.fr. The direction générale des finances publiques pays the grant to the bank account the tax household declared for income tax purposes.
Control runs for five years. Beneficiaries keep proof of eligibility for five years from payment, must produce supporting documents within one month when the tax administration asks, and wrongly received sums are recovered under the rules for claims unrelated to tax or state property, with the surcharges of article L. 115-1 of the code des relations entre le public et l'administration where the payment rested on inaccurate information. The procedure is expressly not a tax audit. The insurance information body under article L. 451-1 of the code des assurances shares the insured-vehicle file with the tax administration for examining claims and checking payments, and third-party access to implementation data for scientific or statistical research needs a budget minister decision under article L. 135 D of the livre des procédures fiscales, with directly or indirectly identifying data never disclosed.
