PRH now says it may impose a negligence fee for failure to carry out the annual trade-register information check from 2029PRH, replacing the 2028 start previously given in its guidance
PRH. The annual checking duty itself still starts in 2027 under PRH’s timetable. Companies should therefore keep the verification task in their 2027 compliance plans while updating the separate enforcement date.
PRH
The check covers information entered in the trade register and the company’s contact details in the Business Information System, YTJ. PRH instructs companies to check the information in the YTJ service. Its guidance identifies limited liability companies, cooperatives, European companies and foreign businesses with a Finnish branch as subject to the duty; the statutory scope also includes European cooperative societies.
The operative requirement is to confirm the relevant registered information as current each calendar year.Finlex A company may give that confirmation using the information as amended by a pending change notification, but registration of the confirmation then depends on the change being registered as notified. This matters where an annual review coincides with a change of directors or other registered details: the pending notification and the annual confirmation need to be consistent.
For failure to make the annual confirmation, the negligence fee is €300, rising to €600 for public limited liability companies and European companies.Finlex The statutory test requires both failure to confirm during the calendar year and continued failure after a reminder.
Finlex Section 26 requires the fee to be waived if the omission is due to a reason beyond the reporting entity’s control, is minor, or has a valid reason. The statute also limits the time for imposing this annual-confirmation fee to one year after the day the confirmation was due.

The revised 2029 date concerns the annual check. PRH separately describes negligence fees already applicable from 2025 where companies fail to correct missing or incorrect register information despite a request.PRH Companies should continue dealing with those correction requests and avoid treating the later annual-check enforcement date as a general extension for registry compliance.

The legal basis is Kaupparekisterilaki (564/2023), particularly §§23, 24 and 26, with PRH’s current guidance supplying the stated 2027 verification and 2029 enforcement timetable.
Schedule annual trade-register information checks from 2027 and update PRH’s stated start year for annual-check negligence fees to 2029.
