Non-resident businesses that repair or maintain medical equipment in Jersey have a new licensing exemptionJerseylaw. Amendment R&O.100/2026, made 25 September 2026 and in force 2 October 2026
Jerseylaw, inserts a new paragraph 7 into Schedule 2 of the Control of Housing and Work (Licences and Exemptions) (Jersey) Order 2026

The same amendment widens an existing exemption. Schedule 2 paragraph 2 previously exempted activities 'managed by' a person or body carrying out regulated activitiesJerseylaw (banking, collective investment funds, financial services or insurance business as defined in paragraph 1(2)); it now covers activities 'administered or managed by' such a person
Jerseylaw — extending the exemption to administrative arrangements alongside management ones, for non-resident businesses and for qualifying resident businesses whose people all carry out the 60-days-or-less exempt employment activity.
The exemption sits inside Jersey's business-licensing regime: Schedule 2 lists the Order's exempt business activities. Its other paragraphs carry their own conditions — paragraph 1 covers regulated activities for qualifying businesses, and further paragraphs cover accommodation provision, domestic or personal services, business-visitor establishment work capped at 90 days in 12 months, and urgent critical-incident response designated by the Minister. The amendment's endnote records R&O.100/2026 as the Schedule 2 change in force from 2 October 2026. A non-resident business for these purposes is a business carried on in Jersey by a person who is not ordinarily resident in Jersey or who has no permanent business premises there.
