Council Regulation (ES) 2026/2446VID of 26 October 2026, published in the Eiropas Savienības Oficiālais Vēstnesis on 28 October 2026, extends the application period of Regulation (ES) 2023/2720
VID on autonomous Union tariff quotas for certain fishery products through the end of 2027
VID. The 2023 regulation had opened the quotas for the 2024–2026 period; because the proposal for the new regulation governing the next period is still being finalised, the amending regulation prolongs the existing regime so that duty-free supply of fishery products into the Union is not interrupted.
Within the quota volumes set in the annex, the regime suspends the application of import customs duties or reduces them to the stated rates for the listed fishery productsVID. The suspension or reduction applies only to products intended for food use
VID. The quotas are subject to end-use customs supervision, and the detailed rates, volumes and periods are those stated per product in the annex.
The quotas are not available for products of Russian or Belarusian origin. They are also unavailable for products processed in retail or catering establishments and for products intended solely for minimal handling such as cleaning, gutting, tailing and heading, cutting, repackaging of separately quick-frozen fillets, sampling and sorting, labelling, packing, chilling, freezing, deep-freezing, defrosting, ice glazing, thawing or separation. By way of exception, the quotas remain available for products intended for specified operations including cubing, cutting into rings and strips for the stated CN codes, filleting, flap production, cutting of frozen blocks, splitting of interleaved frozen fillet and cephalopod blocks into individual fillets, slicing for the stated codes and protective-gas treatment for the stated code.
For importers, customs brokers and trade-compliance teams, consignments of the covered fishery products continue to enter under the quota ratesVID through 31 December 2027
VID, provided the goods meet the food-use and processing conditions and the quota volume for the product is still available. The amending regulation enters into force on the twentieth day following its publication, and quota allocation follows Īstenošanas regulas (ES) 2015/2447 49.-53. pants and Ministru kabineta noteikumi Nr. 734.
