Pigmeat import licences under orders 05.4038 and 05.4170 will be valid from 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027.GOV The Rural Payments Agency's notice listed 14,492,500 kg for order 05.4038GOV, covering countries other than EU Member StatesGOV, and 2,461,000 kg for the USAGOV under order 05.4170GOV. Both cover CN codes ex 0203 19 55 and ex 0203 29 55.

The application period ran from 1 September to 5pm on 7 September 2026.GOV RPA said it would reject applications, securities or proof of trade received after that deadline. The deadline has therefore passed for this window; the licence period begins in October.

For a first application in the quota year, applicants had to show imports of at least 25 tonnes of pigmeat-sector products in each of two periodsGOV: 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, and 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026GOV. The notice permits spreadsheet evidence giving the entry number, entry date, product CN code, imported quantity and licence number where applicable. Applicants must also be established and VAT-registered in the UK.

Both quota orders required security of £20 per 100 kg.GOV Applicants using another trader's block guarantee had to set up the cross-reference before submitting the application. If it was missing and no alternative security was supplied within the application period, the application would be rejected. RPA does not accept block-guarantee amendments, including cross-reference changes, after the window closes.

The application distinguished the origins through box 8: No for order 05.4038 and Yes for order 05.4170. Box 20 required the statutory instrument and the relevant order number. Box 11 recorded the security amount in pounds, its type and, where applicable, the block-guarantee holder's trader number.

For the main electronic licence, excluding extracts, security is released automatically once at least 95% of the licence quantity is attributed.GOV Rights can be transferred only to companies satisfying the notice's proof-of-trade requirements.GOV A licence allows one transfer to the nominated transfereeGOV; subsequent transfers are prohibited apart from returning the rights to the original licence holderGOV. Veterinary conditions or restrictions may also apply to the imports.

The legal framework is the Customs (Tariff Quotas) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020, including regulations 24, 26, 29, 35, 38 and 40.

For licences under orders 05.4038 and 05.4170, plan imports within 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027, monitor main electronic licence attribution for 95% security release, and check a proposed transferee satisfies the proof-of-trade requirements.
