Finland’s Tax Administration will introduce an OP bank account on 1 December 2026Vero and retire its Danske Bank account after a six-month transition
Vero. Payments to the Danske account will reach Vero through 31 May 2027
Vero. From 1 June 2027, that account will be closed and payments sent to it will be returned
Vero. Vero’s Nordea account is unchanged.
Taxpayers using saved online-banking payment templates should check which Vero account they contain. The retiring Danske account begins with FI56Vero. If it is saved, replace it with Vero’s Nordea account or the new OP account. The OP details will be available from 1 December 2026 in OmaVero under Verojen maksaminen ja maksutiedot
Vero; Vero recommends updating templates as soon as possible after that date.
Payments made through OmaVero, consumer e-invoices or business e-invoices require no action from the payer. Vero will update the account automatically in those channels, direct-payment arrangements, new decisions and letters, and Palkka.fi. OmaVero and Palkka.fi will be updated on 1 December. For technical reasons, newly generated decisions, e-invoices and certain OmaVero PDF documents will start carrying the new account after mid-November 2026. Vero says taxpayers can use the payment details shown on those documents.
An e-invoice received before the account change can still be paid normally without editing its account number; the next invoice will contain the updated details. Older decisions and letters need more care. Their account details will not be changed retrospectively, even when the tax falls due after the transition endsVero. If an old document shows Danske, use Nordea or check the new OP details in OmaVero.
This matters for existing payment plans as well as individual bills. Vero’s example concerns a year-long arrangement agreed in September 2026 whose final instalment falls due in autumn 2027. Someone using the Danske details in that arrangement’s letter must switch to Nordea or OP by the June 2027 instalment at the latest.
Money sent to the closed account may take several days to returnVero, or longer if sent from a foreign bank account
Vero. A returned payment must be paid again to the correct account. Vero warns that late-payment interest is payable if the tax due date passes in the meantime
Vero. The statute also provides for interest to be waived wholly or partly where payment was delayed by an authority’s conduct, and allows relief for specified other reasons.
The account switch follows procurement of the state’s banking services; the late-payment-interest framework is Laki veronlisäyksestä ja viivekorosta (1556/1995), sections 5 a, 5 b and 7.
Check saved tax-payment templates and replace Vero’s Danske account with Nordea or the new OP account available in OmaVero from 1 December 2026.
