Overseas company accounts can now be filed with Companies House as iXBRL package accountsGOV, under an addition to the Filing your Companies House accounts guidance. The enumerated list of package-account types that may be filed in ZIP format, iXBRL-tagged using software, gains "overseas company accounts" alongside
GOV UKSEF accounts for listed companies, Welsh accounts with an English translation, section 400 and 401 group packages, community interest company accounts, audit-exempt and dormant-exempt subsidiary accounts, and limited partnership accounts.
Package accounts must be saved in ZIP formatGOV and iXBRL-tagged using suitable software before filing online
GOV with Companies House. The change matters because the filing-accounts guidance otherwise channels most account types to commercial software only: unaudited abridged accounts may still use Find and update company information, and only dormant accounts of never-traded companies and micro-entity accounts retain WebFiling routes, but overseas company accounts now have an explicit package route
GOV where none was listed before. The joint online service for accounts and Company Tax Return closed on 31 March 2026, and in future all accounts filing moves to commercial software.
The addition pairs with the new overseas-companies authentication-code route: an overseas company files package accounts using the code requested through Find and update company information and posted to its UK establishment address. As with all companies, overseas filers need their company authentication code, must file on time to avoid a penalty, and should not wait until accounts are due to request credentials.
The software-provider list names ARKK tagging services, Ayiza 1Touch and Efile Ready among the products for other package types, without yet naming overseas company packages; Companies House endorses no particular product, so filers should check support with providers directly and use the software finder for filing company accounts.
Legal basis: the Filing your Companies House accounts guidance (package accounts list) and the software-provider package-accounts guidance (Companies House).
Overseas filers choosing the package route should prepare accounts as an iXBRL-tagged ZIP package using suitable software, check with the provider that overseas company packages are supported, and file the package online with the company authentication code.
