Caisses Sociales. The point value is set by Arrêté Ministériel and feeds directly into every CARTI pension calculation: the annual direct pension equals the total credited points multiplied by the point value, and the monthly pension paid out equals that annual amount divided by twelve.
For a direct pension, entitlement still requires at least 120 months of CARTI contributions, or 60 months spread over at least 15 years for seasonal activity, with coordination possible against periods under the Monaco salaried scheme and certain employer schemes where the minimum is not met on self-employed activity alone. The statutory retirement age remains 65, with an unreduced early pension from age 60 for workers medically recognised as unfit for any professional activity who have fully ceased working, and continued accrual of points for those who work past 65 without drawing the pension. The pension takes effect according to the written claim date, generally the first day of the civil quarter of filing, with a three-month window from the 65th birthday to secure effect from that birthday.
The same point value drives survivors' pensions. A widow or widower receives 60% of the deceased spouse's credited points multiplied by the point value. The right is assessed at the date of the written claim, requires four years of marriage at death, or a marriage celebrated two years before the direct pension took effect, or at least one child of the union, and it ends on remarriage or cohabitation. A widow with a dependent child at the date of death may claim before age 50; otherwise the claim runs from age 50. The claim must be filed within three months of death to take effect from the death (or the 50th birthday where applicable); filed later, it takes effect on the first day of the civil quarter of filing.
An orphan receives the deceased parent's points multiplied by a 25% or 50% rate and the point value, paid in every case until age 18 and until the eve of the 21st birthday for students or apprentices, who must evidence their status each October or through apprenticeship records. The deceased must have been drawing a CARTI pension or have met the 120-month minimum, under the same coordination rules.
Pensions are paid by transfer monthly in arrears, on the first working day of the following month for residents of Monaco, France or Italy and quarterly in arrears otherwise; pensions based on fewer than 15 points are always paid quarterly. The legal basis is the Arrêté Ministériel fixing the CARTI point value, applied through the Caisses Sociales de Monaco CARTI pension rules.
