Employees in Monaco on sick leave now have a concrete ceiling for the statutory sickness daily allowance: the daily indemnity (indemnité journalière maladie) cannot exceed 166,67 € a day from 1 October 2026Caisses Sociales. The allowance equals half of the insured's average gross daily wage over the preceding 12 months, capped at half of the CCSS contribution ceiling reduced to a daily basis — the ceiling whose figure was previously unavailable on the page and now reads 166,67 € from 1 October 2026. The new CCSS monthly contribution ceiling of 10 000,00 € applies from the same date
Caisses Sociales.
Where the employee has three or more dependent children within the meaning of the family-allowance legislation, the allowance rises to two-thirds of the average daily wage from the 31st day of continuous interruption, capped at one forty-fifth of the monthly CCSS contribution ceiling. The first three days of the initial stoppage carry no benefit, and the payment equals the daily amount multiplied by the number of compensable days.
Eligibility still requires an actual loss of wages from the stoppage and the same qualifying period as for medical-care reimbursement. Within 48 hours of the prescription the insured must send the CCSS the doctor's letter-card, completed and signedCaisses Sociales; employees resident in Italy who are Monegasque or Italian nationals send it to the Italian social-security body (I.N.P.S.) for the first six months. Missing the deadline can mean refusal. An employer-completed absence certificate, with cessation and resumption dates plus the gross-wage and hours figures from the three pay slips before the month of the stoppage, conditions payment: filed on return for short stoppages, or every fortnight or month on a fixed date for long ones. While off work the insured must keep the prescribed outing hours between 16h and 18h, state their place of residence and telephone number on the stoppage notice, and obtain the Contrôle Médical's prior authorisation before staying away from home.
The daily amount may later be revalued in two ways: from the start of the fourth month, on request, in proportion to general wage increases in the firm under a statute or regulation or under agreements concluded within the occupation; and beyond six months of continuous interruption, by applying the coefficients set by the Arrêtés Ministériels published after those six months fall due, with no step for the employee to take. The legal basis is the CCSS sickness-benefit rules of the Caisses Sociales de Monaco, applied with the contribution ceiling in force from 1 October 2026.
