For Berufsausbildungen nach dem Berufsbildungsgesetz begun between 1 January and 31 December 2027, the monthly minimum allowance under § 17 Absatz 2 Satz 1 BBiGBund is as published in Bundesgesetzblatt Teil I No. 287 of 7 October 2026, subject to the statutory exceptions for binding collective rates and part-time training stated below. The notice of 30 September 2026 sets the floor for apprenticeships begun in that window: 764 Euro in the first year
Bund, 902 Euro in the second
Bund, 1 031 Euro in the third
Bund and 1 070 Euro in the fourth year of training
Bund. Compared with the 2026 rates (724, 854, 977 and 1 014 Euro), each year rises by 40, 48, 54 and 56 Euro respectively.
The figures follow the statutory indexation rule. Under section 17(2) of the Berufsbildungsgesetz, the first-year amount is updated each 1 January by the arithmetical mean of collectively reported training allowances for the two calendar years before the announcement year, rounded to the full Euro, with the second- to fourth-year floors derived from it by the fixed mark-ups of 18, 35 and 40 percent. The competent ministry must publish the next year's rates by 1 November each year at the latest.
Two statutory qualifications matter for payroll practice. A collectively agreed rate that an employer must apply under section 3(1) of the Tarifvertragsgesetz also counts as appropriate even where it falls below the statutory floor, and it keeps applying to existing apprenticeships after the agreement expires until a new one replaces it. Conversely, even a rate above the floor is as a rule inappropriate where it undercuts by more than 20 percent the collective rate of a pay agreement whose scope covers the apprenticeship but does not bind the employer. For part-time apprenticeships the rate may be reduced, but never by a larger percentage than the reduction in daily or weekly working time.
