Travel time between consecutive assignments counts as working time or is paid separately for the time spent moving between jobs. The exception is employees in companies bound by the cleaning-companies collective agreement who are covered by the rammetimetall scheme. Additional costs the employee incurs in connection with travel between assignments are covered by agreement.
Where an assignment requires overnight accommodation away from home, the employer pays necessary travel expenses at the start and end of the assignment. Before sending an employee on an assignment outside their home area, the employer must agree arrangements for board and lodging; as a main rule the employer provides board and lodging, but may instead cover costs through a fixed diet rate, payment against receipts or similar. The employer provides necessary workwear and footwear suited to the workplace and the work.
The regulation also applies in Longyearbyen and Ny-Ålesund on SvalbardLovdata, which extends the minimum-terms regime beyond mainland Norway.
